Zenith Wealth

New account

Aadhaar based and paperless, it takes most people 10 to 15 minutes in one sitting.

You will be redirected to Motilal Oswal, our partner, to open the account. Zenith does not collect your KYC data on this site.

Section one

Which of the four you need

Two of the four routes open online right now. The other two are opened by a person at Zenith, because the documents have to be collected and checked. That split is real, so the page shows it rather than hiding it behind four identical boxes.

Open online now

Individual investment account

For yourself, in your own name, single or joint. Mutual funds, bonds and the rest of what Zenith distributes sit under this one account.

  • PAN and an Aadhaar linked mobile number
  • Bank proof, signature image, nominee details
  • No demat account needed for mutual funds

Insurance only KYC

For somebody buying a term or health policy and nothing else. A shorter KYC under the insurance regulator, with no investment account attached.

  • PAN and Aadhaar linked mobile number
  • Date of birth and communication address
  • Can be upgraded to a full account later

A person at Zenith opens these

Non individual

HUF, private limited company, LLP, partnership firm or trust. The entity documents and the beneficial ownership declaration have to be checked by hand, so there is no online link for this and we will not pretend otherwise.

Send the entity name and constitution, or call. Rajesh ji will tell you the exact list for your constitution before you gather anything. Write to support@thezenithwealth.com or call +91 88841 30501.

NRI

If you live outside India, the account carries NRE and NRO banking, repatriation rules and, for some countries, restrictions from the fund house side. Those are decided before the form is filled, not during it.

Call or write with the country you are resident in. Residents of the United States and Canada, please read the FAQ below first. Write to support@thezenithwealth.com or call +91 88841 30501.

Section two

Not sure which one?

Three questions, answered in any order, changeable at any time. Nothing is captured and nothing is sent anywhere. The answer appears beside them as you tap.

Who is the account for?

The single question that decides most of it.

What do you want to do with it?

Investing and buying only insurance are different KYCs.

Have you invested in mutual funds before?

If you have, a KYC probably already exists against your PAN.

The four routes

Four routes, two of them online

Here is the whole map while you decide. Answer any one of the three questions and this panel narrows to the route that fits, with the documents it needs and the action for it.

  • Individual investment account

Most readers. Opens online, in your own name.

  • Insurance only KYC

A term or health policy and nothing else. Opens online.

  • Non individual

HUF, company, LLP, firm or trust. Opened by a person here.

  • NRI

Resident outside India. Opened by a person here.

Section three

What to keep beside you before you start

Gather these first and the eKYC runs in one sitting. Tap an item to tick it off, so you can hold the phone in one hand while the laptop does the form.

Individual investment account

0 of 7 ready

Nothing is posted or couriered. Photographs taken on a phone are accepted as long as all four corners and the text are readable.

Section four

What actually happens, in order

Six steps from the first form to the first investment. The timings below are what the process usually takes, not what a brochure would like it to take. A KYC registration agency controls step four, and nobody can promise its clock.

  1. 10 to 15 minutes

You complete the form on the Motilal Oswal portal

Personal details, bank details, nominee and the FATCA declaration, on the partner portal rather than on this site. Zenith is already recorded on it as your distributor.

  2. About 2 minutes

Aadhaar authenticates you by one time password

The password goes to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. If it does not arrive, the number is probably not linked, and the FAQ below covers what to do.

  3. 2 to 3 minutes, same sitting

You record a short in person verification video

Where the rules require one, you read a code aloud on camera and hold up your PAN. It is short, it is not a test, and it can be re recorded.

  4. 1 to 3 working days

Your details are lodged with a KYC Registration Agency

The registry validates the record centrally. This step is not in the hands of anybody at Zenith or at Motilal Oswal, which is why this page does not promise a same day account.

  5. Usually the same day as validation

The account goes live and you are told

You get the confirmation from the portal, and a message from us saying it is open and what the folio arrangement looks like.

  6. When you decide, not before

Only then does a first investment get placed

You authorise the payment from your own bank account and it goes to the fund house. Money never moves through Zenith, and there is no rush at this step.

At step six, money moves from your own bank account to the fund house. It never moves through Zenith, and Zenith cannot place a transaction that you have not authorised from your own bank.

Section five

You may already have a KYC, and that changes things

KYC in India is held centrally, at a KYC Registration Agency and at CKYC, not by each firm separately. If you completed KYC for a bank account or an earlier mutual fund investment, you are probably already registered, and the eKYC becomes a validation rather than a fresh start. Check your own status first, in two minutes, without asking anybody.

Validated

Your KYC was completed with Aadhaar and the details match the central record. You can invest across fund houses with nothing further to submit.

Registered

You are on the registry, but the KYC was done with a document other than Aadhaar. Existing folios keep working. A new fund house will usually ask you to re validate once.

On hold

Something did not match, commonly an address or a mobile number. New investments are blocked until it is cleared. It is fixable, and it is better found now than at the payment screen.

What triggers a fresh KYC

  • Your address has changed since the KYC was done, and the registry still holds the old one.
  • The mobile number on the record is no longer the one linked to your Aadhaar, so the one time password cannot reach you.
  • The KYC was completed years ago with a document that is no longer accepted as address proof.
  • Your name changed, commonly after marriage, and PAN and Aadhaar no longer agree.
  • Your residency changed, from resident to NRI or back.

Check your own status

  1. Open any KYC Registration Agency site: CVL KRA, CAMS KRA, NDML or DOTEX. Any one of them can read the central record.
  2. Enter your PAN in the KYC enquiry box on that site.
  3. Read the status it returns: validated, registered, on hold or no record found.

If it says no record found, this is your first KYC and the individual route is the right one. If it says on hold, call before starting, because the fix is faster than the form.

Section six

Where your money and your units actually sit

Not with Zenith. Units are held in your own name in a folio with the fund house, the money moves from your bank to the fund house directly, and your KYC data sits with the registration agency. Zenith appears on the account as the distributor of record under ARN-331900, beside the flow rather than inside it.

  1. Step one

    Your bank account

Money leaves from here, in your name, on your mandate.

  2. Step two

    The fund house

Receives the money and allots units. It also holds the scheme assets with its own custodian.

  3. Step three

    Registrar and your folio

Units recorded in your own name. Statements come to you from here, not from us.

Zenith sits beside this flow

Zenith Wealth

Distributor of record, ARN-331900. Helps you choose and transact, holds no money and no units, and cannot withdraw from your folio.

KYC Registration Agency

Holds your KYC record centrally. Zenith does not store your PAN and Aadhaar data on this website.

You can stop using Zenith whenever you like and keep every unit you hold. Changing the distributor on a folio, or moving to direct, does not touch your investment.

Section seven

What it costs you to open this with us

Nothing. There is no fee to open the account, no charge for the KYC, no paperwork fee and no annual charge from Zenith. Zenith is paid a trail commission by the fund house out of the scheme's expense ratio, which is disclosed in the scheme documents. Here is the honest comparison.

What is being comparedRegular plan, through ZenithDirect plan, on your own
To open the accountNo charge. No fee for the KYC, the paperwork or the account itself. No charge either. You do the work of choosing and transacting yourself.
Annual charge from ZenithNone. Zenith does not bill you.None.
Who pays ZenithThe fund house pays a trail commission out of the scheme expense ratio.Nobody. There is no distributor on the folio.
Expense ratio of the schemeHigher, by the distribution cost. Disclosed in the scheme information document and on the fund house site.Lower by that same distribution cost.
What you get for itOne named person answerable for transactions, KYC changes, nominee updates, statements and redemptions. You handle each fund house, each portal and each correction yourself.
LeavingYou can remove Zenith as distributor at any time and keep every unit. Not applicable.

The difference between the two plans is the distribution cost inside the expense ratio, and it is the price of having somebody answerable when something needs doing. If you would rather hold direct plans, that is a legitimate choice and this page is not the place to argue with it. Every registration number we hold can be checked on the verify our registrations page.

Questions people ask before starting

No. Mutual fund units can be held in a statement of account folio with the fund house, in your own name, with no demat account and no annual maintenance charge. A demat account is only needed if you specifically want units held in demat form, or if you are buying listed products such as bonds.

Still not sure

Talk it through with a person first

If you would rather ask two questions before you type a PAN anywhere, that is the sensible instinct. Call and ask them. Nobody will push you to open anything on the call.

Phone answered 9am–7pm IST, Mon–Sat. Offices in Udaipur and Bengaluru.
